Mentored by Albert Collins and John Mayall, Montoya's self-taught, left-handed mastery of the guitar and profound vocals have consistently placed him at the forefront of the genre since his 1995 debut solo album, which earned him accolades such as the Blues Music Award for Best New Artist. His new album Writing On The Wall, released in 2023 by Alligator Records, showcases Montoya's continually unmatched talent, backed by his tight band.
